A misty Kanturk was the venue for Duhallow sides Dromtarriffe and Boherbue in the Bon Secours Cork IAFC 1/4 Final.

With conditions poor for both sides, it was difficult to know what kind of a game we were in store for. A point from play Darren O Connor opened up the scoring for Dromtarriffe followed by a point from play from Boherbue’s full forward.

Both sides were testing each other and possession was hard to hold. An innocuous free lead to a point for Boherbue before Daniel O Keeffe used the wind to drive a long point over the bar.

On the quarter of an hour mark, Boherbue lead 3 points to 2 points and the game may have seemed sluggish but possession was certainly hard to keep due to ground and weather conditions.

A point from play Brian O Keeffe was noted on the scoreboard but another free from Boherbue put them back in front again before Dromtarriffe scored their first score-able point.

It really was score for score in the first half and with Dromtarriffe conceding frees, Boherbue were kept in the game. Evan Murphy and Conor O Callaghan raised the flag with scores from play sending both sides in at half time 6 points a piece.

Dromtarriffe started much better in the second half as inside the first minute Jack Murphy popped one over the bar before a mistake from the Boherbue goalkeeper was costly as Evan Murphy’s long high shot dropped in behind him to give Dromtarriffe a 4 point lead with just two minutes of the second half played.

A converted mark raised the white flag by Boherbue’s full forward before we see a 14 minute period before another score would come. Boherbue brought it back down to 2 points with a score from play but a hard earned score with some hard hits along the way see substitute Tomas Howard add his name to the scoresheet.

With players becoming tired, late tackles were getting punished and the game began to slow down before a fine shot from O Callaghan brought Dromtarriffe back up to a 4 point lead and surly their name through to the semi final.

With us deep into injury time a point from Brian O Keeffe was enough to see the crowd disperse and Dromtarriffe secure. Boherbue didn’t leave their heads drop as it’s not over until the final whistle but their last attack only lead to a point and the referee blew the final whistle with a final score of Dromtarriffe 1-10 Boherbue 0-9

Dromtarriffe now meet Aghabullogue in the County IAFC Semi Final after Adrigoles win over St Vincent’s.
